About

Life in Fins started with a collection of people who love swimming and being in the ocean. After freediving together with Tiger, Sandbar, and Galapagos sharks in North Shore, Oahu in 2016, we were stunned by their grace and intelligence and decided to be more proactive in marine life and ocean conservation. We have since rallied our friends to participate in beach clean-up events and gave lectures to students in schools about the importance of the ocean. We also posted our diving photos on social media to raise awareness.

"When it is obvious that the goals cannot be reached, don't adjust the goals, adjust the action steps."

Confucius

We have devoted much of our free time for our passion in marine conservation. If we had infinite time and resources, we’d be out in the field everyday removing trash from the ocean and untangling animals caught by fishing lines. But there are many life responsibilities that take priority and our passion to do good has to be temporarily put on hold.

Always wanting to do more, we brainstormed ways to invite our ocean loving friends to contribute in traditional and alternative ways. We created Life in Fins, a place that enables everyone to collectively use their generosity, talents, hobbies, stories and creative resources to take part in ocean conservation.

All contributions will be used towards our mission, preventing the extinction of marine lives and cultivating a future where humans are respectful of the ocean and its dwellers.

To learn how you can contribute to the cause, please see Act Now.

The name 'Life in Fins' was inspired by our co-founder’s hobby of diving with sharks, dolphins, and whales (marine lives with fins).

We will continue to add alternative ways (non-monetary, hobbies and creativity-based donations) for everyone to contribute to save our one and only ocean. We hope our community will grow and create a big splash for the marine environment. Subscribe to our newsletter to stay updated!

Please contact us for any suggestions you may have, we would love to hear from you!
